Republicans Are Assholes

On the final day of the Bush presidency 34% of the population of the USA thought that George W. Bush did a good job and they approved. That is a mind bogglingly large number of people to support a president who was seemingly equal parts asshole-fratboy, fake cowboy, and irritating born again Jesus freak. Past the ad hominem and on to quantifiable performance; the guy literally fucked up everything he touched save for coming though at the very end and helping to save the banks from failure. After a whole game of fuckups making a half court Hail Mary at the buzzer doesn’t absolve you.

For a little perspective lets go over just a few of many Bush fuck-ups;

  • In September Bin Ladin did strike. In an amazing display of decisive leadership W sat for more than seven minutes reading “The Pet Goat” to schoolkids while the WTC towers burned. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Pet_Goat
  • Then in classic knee jerk reactionary bully style he picks the country that no one likes and can’t fight back and invades them because “they might attack us first.” As it turns out all of the initial justifications for invading the country turn out to be lies and distortions. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2003_invasion_of_Iraq
  • Once invaded virtually none of the assumptions; “we will be greeted as liberators”, “the profits from the sale of oil will pay for the war”, “mission accomplished”, etc. turned out to be correct.
  • When the rest of the world expressed their disgust at Bush leading up an invasion of another country based on a pack of lies Bush figuratively flipped them all the bird.
  • Listening to Bush use the English language is akin to watching a drunk epileptic cross an ice covered intersection at night. The dumbest person I know speaks better than Bush. He is a national disgrace.

I could go on for a week about Bush disasters. You could write a book on New Orleans and The Great Recession alone… I know you morons that listen to propaganda on AM radio 12 hours a day are going to call me a latte sipping liberal. To you; fuck you and all of your brainwashed friends. Calling Bush a failure isn’t partisan it’s realism. It’s not left or right. It’s fucking common sense.

The easy way out is to assume that the 60 million people that think Bush did a great job are just fucking idiots. It can’t be the case. There are a lot of morons in the country but 60 million? Just look at how many iPhone apps that Apple has sold in the last year… or how many sets of testicles that you’ve seen on truck trailer hitches. Or the sheer volume of people on Twitter a virtual festival of drooling dumb-fucks. To assign the label of stupidity is to absolve them from their sins.

The only other possible conclusion that I can come to is that in fact these people are assholes. This would fit the my own informal polling that shows that in fact 1 out of 3 people are indeed assholes and a majority of these assholes are also Republicans.  It’s not about reason and policy difference. It’s not about tax rates or socialism. If these people cared about the fucking budget deficit they would have have been out protesting W when he spent Clinton’s surplus and borrowed us into a hole.  It goes deeper it’s about how these people treat and view everyone else… like an asshole. Of course they don’t like that Obama is out making friends with the world and being reasonable… that’s not what as asshole would do. An asshole would tell them how it was and if they didn’t like it they can piss off! An asshole doesn’t respect peace and unity they respect aggression and power no matter how it affects anyone else. An asshole doesn’t respect the differences in others and strength in diversity.  The asshole dwells on differences as a point of division.

I think about the Republicans I know;

  • The married woman with kids that is constantly talking values when she is sober and flashing her tits when she is drunk… republican and an asshole.
  • The swinger party loving CFO that talks about personal responsibility and financial prudence and runs his company on the edge of insolvency… republican and an asshole.
  • Our angry postal delivery lady who has a partial beard who constantly talks about the ineptitude of the government services while performing a government service… republican and an asshole.
  • The jobless trust fund baby who hasn’t worked in 8 years that looks down on people making an honest living… republican and an asshole.

Think about the people that you know in your life. Chances are if they identify themselves as a Republican they are also an asshole. And don’t try to reason with them on this Obama thing. He isn’t enough of an asshole for their liking.

Beautifully said! Just for fun, I had typed in “republicans are assholes” in Google and this article came up, along with 1,460 other results. I’ve just finished a conversation (if you can call it that) with one of these assholes trying to explain why sending out goddamned chain letter hoaxes that haven’t been verified and telling me to “send it to everyone you know” is irresponsible and moronic. Did they understand that? No. Will they research other chain letters before mailing them out to “everyone they know”? No. But they WILL get angry at me for calling them on this bullshit.

Republicans are assholes. Every single one of them.

At this point it’s the only explanation left; republicans are assholes. All that shit they were spouting during Clinton’s run in the white house; small government, personal freedom, less intrusive government… all bullshit. Bush did exactly the opposite of everything they preached for 8 years of Clinton and they defended him to the end.

So if it isn’t about all of the tenants they trot out in their propaganda what is it? It’s the pursuit of power at any cost.

Since they’ve lost most thinking people and it seems like the religious right fad is coming to an end they are basically left with their very small core group; mean assholes.

Cheney and Limbaugh are the two poster boys of the republican party, both huge assholes.

This is especially so in the business world. When I think of all the slimy, crooked, shifty, soulless, heartless, corrupt, “numbers instead of people” business folks that I have crossed paths with in my professional career, literally all of the ones that I knew the political persuasion of were republicans.

That isn’t to say that maybe there were some non-republican folks in that bunch, but when and where I learned what their political tendencies were, they were all republican (and I don’t go fishing for information like that either).

Also, now days with there being such a disparity between “the haves” and “the have-nots”, and with the vast majority of industries out there that are the ones making all the money being riddled with corruption, it comes to no surprise that the majority of those folks are republicans as well.

What I don’t get is that you have the bastard asshole republicans at the top that make all the money. They have nothing to lose, and are jerks, and don’t give a shit. That’s fine, ok. I get that. But then you have the millions of other folks *who have nothing* and who have everything to lose, yet they identify with- and long to be- republican too, and mindlessly support these jerks at the top that have essentially ruined their lives (and everyone else’s’ lives).

I guess that it doesn’t take money to make an asshole? I don’t know…

My former boss and I were talking politics one time 5-6 years ago. He’s flaming Republican and huge supporter of W. Anyway, he mentions something to the effect that he used to be Democrat when he was younger and in college, so I asked him when did he turned Republican and he said: “When I started my own business!” …..Right there and then I knew I’m dealing with a true asshole and a turd!

I thought the only good thing Bush ever did was hiring Gates as Sec’y of Defense. And he only did that out of desperation. In some dark and secret moment of clarity he must have thought, “All my cronies suck. I guess I’ll have to go for qualifications rather than connections.”

Hi Grumpy. I agree with what you say that Republicans suck for the most part, except for Ron Paul and especially Mittens Romney care sucks.

I agree that many Republicans are assholes in many ways (hypocritical in the extreme on issues of government spending and seeking to ram religion down people’s throats), but I think some of your criticisms of Bush are wrong or over-simplified:

On #2: The reason Bush continued reading to the children upon being informed of the WTC strike is because he didn’t want to alarm anybody, which would have happened if he had just upped and left immediately after the Secret Service whispered into his ear.

On #3, I wouldn’t call the reasons for invading Iraq lies or distortions, but more not doing enough homework before the invasion. Colin Powell blew his reputation over that whole affair in saying that Iraq had WMDs, something he clearly has resented since. I mean that was a MAJOR humiliation. So I think it’s a gross over-simplification to claim that the Bush administration “lied.”

On #4, I don’t know if anyone in the administration claimed they were going to sell the oil to pay for the war. The goal, whether realistic or pie-in-the-sky, was to make Iraq into a functioning independent liberal democracy, upon which it would then be allowed to drill its own oil, which regarding the oil is what has happened (ironically it has auctioned its oil contracts to non-U.S. countries that were against the invasion).

In addition, “Mission Accomplished” did not refer to the invasion, that referred to the mission of the aircraft carrier. Unfortunately, in a public relations failure, the picture that was released showed Bush speaking with the banner in the background overhead, giving the impression that it referred to the entire operation.

On #5, see my response on #3. But also, what should the rest of the world have cared about overthrowing what was a brutal dictator, one of the most brutal in the world? Technically, I think it’s perfectly moral to overthrow such a dictator on the basis of their being such a dictator alone. The question is, is such an overthrow worth all the blood and treasure required. But regarding the act of the actual overthrow, if I was another country, I’d have had the attitude of, “If the United States wants to expend the blood and treasure to overthrow a tyrant and try to establish a liberal democracy, more power to them.” I think the being against the invasion had more to do with blatant anti-Americanism on many a countries’ part. And the French lost some major business deals they had had going with Saddam.

On #7, he signed a reduction in the capital gains tax rate, but capital gains taxes are investment income, and often on money that already has been taxed. Clinton also had signed a capital gains tax rate cut. Also, Bush cut taxes for everybody, across-the-board, not just the rich. That is why after the 2008 election, the phrase “End the Bush tax cuts,” subtly changed to, “End the Bush tax cuts for the rich” or “End the Bush tax cuts for those making $250,000 a year and up.” Lastly, the people that “move money around” do more than that, they provide liquidity and financing for the economy to function. And they are no more or less moral (or immoral) than any private business or person producing goods and services. The economy would grind to halt without them. That doesn’t mean they are morally good. They are like banks and bankers. They may not have good reputation morals-wise, but try getting rid of them all and watch what happens.

Regarding New Orleans and the Great Recession, New Orleans could have been handled better, but that was primarily a failure of the state and local governments not doing their job (like for one making sure the city could withstand that level of hurricane; it wasn’t any secret that the city was susceptible to filling up like a bowl should a large enough storm hit). Regarding the Great Recession, that is something that Bush arguably can be completely absolved of having had anything to do with. He didn’t sign any particular policy that led to or contributed to the financial crisis. He didn’t deregulate (if anything, he signed increases in financial regulation). He just happened to be the guy in the office when the crisis hit.

And I wouldn’t call Bush a failure. He established the architecture for how the U.S. fights terrorism (something Obama has continued and built on to a degree), and no futher terrorist attacks occurred on U.S. soil after 9/11 as a result. And for all the talk of the supposed corruption of his administration one heard of, he actually had the least scandal-wracked administration of any president in recent memory, and that includes Reagan and now Obama (with this gun-running operation scandal).

Clinton only achieved a “surplus” because he benefited from a period of large cuts in the defense budget due to the end of the Cold War (which had to be gunned up after 9/11 alone as a result), limited government from the Republican Congress, the Dot Com bubble which was a huge factor, and so forth. Had 9/11 occurred in 1991 instead of 2001, the 1990s would probably have looked a lot different.

Probably republicans are assholes, but it’s definitely sure that democrats are at least as assholes than them.

The only thing why republicans are less assholes than democrats is that republicans still love their country, its citizens, and love when their country is powerful and proud, while democrats would prefer to be third-wordists slugs marxists victimists and apologists. Maybe the republicans do things as wrong as democrats do, but they do it with good intention, that’s obviously the opposite with fucking democrats, who would like to ruin deliberately america, and to replace it’s population by poor and loosers only, just to be sure they would vote democrats …

Maybe Republicans are Assholes but Democrats are vampirists hypocrits and hating slugs. I will find better quality insults for them when I am a fluent english speaker.

Anyway. No worst blind than who doesn’t want to see,

Hey, if we’re lucky, we can have all of Bush’s advisors back in power by electing Romney. The greater news is that Paul Ryan is now on the path to nomination for Republican candidate for president. The bumper sticker should say: Romney 2012: More for the Rich!

Sedris, your English is good enough to understand. Now work on your Psychology 101. What you just did was to accuse others of the intentions you secretly harbor. The ultra rich will be free to treat us all like poor losers, fighting among ourselves for minimum wage despite our educations, if the Republicans control this country again.

You know the old saying ‘actions speak louder than words’? Well, this is another classic example. Many (NOT ALL) women will SAY they want a nice guy who is respectful, loving, caring, open the doors for them, and all the other BS they’ll spout. But who do they give the ass to 99.99999999% of the time? The bad boy who never calls, doesn’t allow them to move in, who doesn’t compromise poker night with the boys to cuddle with her while watching some crappy dance show on FOX are the same ones bending their naked asses over couches every weekend. Then they go crying about how bad their asshole of a BF treats them despite the BJs and giving him sex 8 times a day to the, you guessed it, nice guy who’ll never get to find out whether they’re shaved or not.
